Individual Therapy
In my practice, I mainly use narrative, person-centered, and collaborative therapy as the central point in individual therapy. This means we work together to formulate a plan for therapy to help reauthor your story.
These forms of therapy can look like:
-
Me asking open-ended questions
-
Reflecting back what you've said
-
Validating you
-
Asking you what you would like to focus on
-
Recognizing the problem is the problem and that YOU are NOT the problem
These are non-pathologizing frames for psychotherapy. My aim is that you are a part of the conversation in therapy. Your consent is important. I ask folx before using modalities that fall outside of person-centered, collaborative, and narrative frames. Though those frames inform how I hold every session, I am trained in other modalities. If I feel another more somatically aligned and trauma-aware modality like IFS or Brainspotting may be helpful, I will ask you if it is something you want to utilize.
